Practical Obedience and Manners

Prerequisite: One beginning level obedience course or "my dog knows what 'sit, down, stay, come, heel' means".

Come take this class so you can tell your friends, "my dog has manners"! We will practice together and learn how to assure your dog's response to the commands you have begun teaching him/her. Come learn the important life skills every dog and dog  owner should know. Emphasis will be on proofing obedience skills and learning manners so your dog will be reliable and polite in public AND at home. Canine Good Citizen test requirements will also be practiced.

Please bring a hungry dog,  a buckle collar, a training collar if using one, a six foot leather or cloth leash (no chains please), a toy, and soft treats! This session consists of 6 classes, and will be taught by Linda Knol. Class fee is $75, $68 for CCC members.

Basic Obedience

For Dogs 6 months and older.
The goal of this class is to develop a good foundation for your dog's manners in public, at the dog park, and at home. We will work on developing a positive learning attitude for your dog by using positive reinforcement.  We will teach you how to promote good behavior by using "interrupt and redirect" techniques. Our class will also cover the obedience instructions that will be needed for advanced training if desired (sit, stay, come, down, heel etc.) Please bring a buckle collar, training collar if using one, six foot leather or cloth leash (no chains please), toy, and soft treats! This session consists of 6 classes, and will be taught by Linda Knol. Class fee is $75, $68 for CCC members.

Puppy Good Start

For pups from 10 weeks – 5 months old.
The goal of this class is to teach you how to establish a positive relationship with your pup. We will learn such useful tools as leave it, go to your place, stay, sit, down, leash walking and the all important, come. We will focus on social interactions and teach the owners and their families how to deal with puppy issues in a positive way. Please bring a toy your pup likes, a buckle collar or harness, a six foot leather or cloth leash, of course, and soft treats! This session consists of 6 classes, and will be taught by Linda Knol. Class fee is $75/$68 for members.

Intermediate Agility

This class is for dogs that have completed at least one Beginning Agility class and have some experience on all of the equipment. The goal of this class is to improve the basic foundation skills of dog and handler. The class will focus on shaping contact and weave behaviors, training a solid start line, and learning basic handling moves via short sequences. Only positive reinforcement methods are used. Dogs must train in a plain buckle collar. Bring favorite food treats and toys to class. This session consists of 6 classes, and will be taught by Leslie Baumann. Class fee is $72 for everyone.

Beginning Agility

This class is for dogs age 7 months* and up, depending on the size and breed of dog. It is an introduction to agility for adolescent and adult dogs of all ages. Emphasis on learning the equipment, developing teamwork and building a positive relationship with your dog.

At least one puppy class and/or a beginning obedience class is strongly encouraged. You will get the most out of the class if your dog knows how to sit when asked, has some manners while on leash and will come when called. Bring a favorite toy and food treats to the first class. While you may use a head halter or harness to walk your dog to and from the training yard, buckle collars only in class. (Limit of six). Class is taught by Leslie Baumann. Sessions consist of six classes.  Class fee is $72 for everyone.
